Score breakdown
Steady HR within a few bpm of straps; big warm-up errors
Calls, replies, maps, SOS; few apps
About 17 days measured with training; 50 h GPS
Bright 3,000-nit sapphire AMOLED, sluggish updates
Dual-band GPS within 0.3%; some navigation features fail
Titanium, sapphire, MIL-STD; huge 89 g case
Each part is rated on one scale for every smartwatch and band, from reviewers' accuracy tests and measured battery life where they exist, what reviewers found, specs and owner reports. It rates the product itself, not how good it is for the price.
Pros
- Heart rate within 0.5 bpm of a Polar Sense on an indoor bike ramp, 2-5 bpm on most steady sessions
- Distance within 0.3% of the average of three reference watches
- Two weeks with daily workouts left 30% battery
- Titanium and sapphire for less than Garmin
- Maps easier to use than Garmin's
- Used only about 4% battery a day, 22% left after two weeks
- Flashlight built in
Cons
- Big heart-rate errors during warm-ups and dropouts at workout starts
- GPS a step behind the Instinct 3 (consistent small offset)
- Elevation gain under-counted
- Climb helper did not work and payment PIN could be skipped
- Heavy at about 89 g
- Very large on the wrist
- Map controls still clumsy

the5krunnerMar 2026
Better adventure watch than a Garmin Instinct 3 thanks to its maps; tested against chest straps, heart rate was close on steady efforts but wrong by tens of beats in warm-ups.
-
T3Feb 2026
Comes close to Garmin's outdoor watches for much less money, with huge battery life; no heart-rate or GPS accuracy tests were reported.
-
Wareable2026
A tougher, longer-lasting T-Rex 3 Pro best suited to long trips; heart rate lagged at workout starts but then matched a Fenix 8 and Suunto Vertical 2 beat for beat.
-
DC RainmakerFeb 2026
Praises the hardware but finds several new navigation features do not work as promised; the written accuracy data was not yet on the page we could read.
