Each part is rated on one scale for every smartwatch and band, from reviewers' accuracy tests and measured battery life where they exist, what reviewers found, specs and owner reports. It rates the product itself, not how good it is for the price.

Pros

  • GPS routes close to reference watches in most terrain
  • Running heart rate largely tracks the chest strap
  • Close to three days per charge even with long workouts
  • Very bright and readable outdoors
  • Full Wear OS app choice and route import
  • Run averages and distance matched a Forerunner 965
  • Dual-band GPS near Garmin level, no dropouts

Cons

  • Heart rate wanders badly on rough outdoor bike rides
  • Touchscreen almost useless with wet hands
  • Few data fields, no running power
  • Power-meter pairing and FTP test unreliable
  • No rotating bezel
  • AGEs index meaning unclear
  • Heart rate slow to follow sharp effort changes
  • DC RainmakerJul 2024

Tested against chest straps and reference GPS watches: dual-band GPS tracks matched the references closely on trails, mountains and open water (only weaker among tall city buildings), running heart rate mostly fine, but outdoor cycling heart rate was often unusable; the best Wear OS watch for sport at the time.

  • Ran side by side with a Garmin Forerunner 965 and an optical armband: average heart rate and distance matched almost exactly, though the Ultra lagged on sudden pace changes and near max effort; battery became good after an early patch, but it's heavy.

  • TechRadarAug 2024

Tough, comfortable and packed with outdoor features, and its GPS agreed well with an Apple Watch Ultra 2; but it's big, costly for a mostly design upgrade, and two days of battery is underwhelming. Heart rate not checked against a strap.

  • GSMArenaAug 2024

Close to unique in its class with a premium rugged build, a smoother new chip and very good stamina for Wear OS; held back by price, the smallish screen and no rotating bezel. No accuracy comparison done.

  • A strong pick for Android users into sport and the outdoors; its step count was close in a 1,000-step manual test, though other health readings were not compared with reference devices; bulky to sleep in and battery is only a couple of days.

  • BeebomJul 2024

Samsung's toughest and most premium watch, but at Rs 59,999 it only makes sense for adventure and outdoor users; others are better off with the Watch7. No reference-device accuracy tests.

Reported by many owners

Common complaints

  • Battery drained very fast in the first weeks after launch; Samsung pushed firmware fixes and reviewers saw much better battery afterwards
  • Many owners saw faster battery drain after an April 2026 update, blamed on Google Play Services; no fix announced at the time
