For the starting version. Each part is measured the same way for every laptop (processor and graphics from benchmark results) and moves up or down with what reviewers praise or criticise.

Pros

  • Bright, colour-accurate 120 Hz screen
  • Premium metal body
  • Comfortable keyboard and haptic touchpad
  • Very good battery life
  • USB4 and Wi-Fi 7
  • Replaceable M.2 2230 SSD
  • Bright screen with privacy mode

Cons

  • RAM is soldered
  • High price for the base version
  • No HDMI or card reader; proprietary Surface Connect port
  • Intel versions have a much faster GPU
  • Expensive
  • NotebookcheckJul 2026

Tested 13.8-inch Snapdragon X2 Plus, 16/512 GB: a very good everyday laptop with a bright, accurate screen and long battery life, but expensive; the X2 Elite adds little speed.

  • ITProJul 2026

Tested the 13.8-inch Surface Laptop for Business 8 with Intel Core Ultra X7 368H and privacy screen (not the Snapdragon version sold in India): a handsome, solid business laptop with long battery life; price is the main drawback. 18 h 43 min looped video.
