Premium steel, sapphire, bezel; heavy and thick

Each part is rated on one scale for every smartwatch and band, from reviewers' accuracy tests and measured battery life where they exist, what reviewers found, specs and owner reports. It rates the product itself, not how good it is for the price.

Pros

  • Heart rate close to a chest strap in their tests
  • Excellent steel build and rotating bezel
  • Very bright screen (about 3,050 nits)
  • Fast and full-featured
  • Satisfying, intuitive rotating bezel
  • High-quality hardware
  • Rotating bezel is the best way to scroll

Cons

  • Screen small for the case size
  • Some health tools need a Samsung phone
  • Heavy and thick
  • Workout heart rate unreliable in hard efforts
  • Strap and weight let it move on the wrist
  • Lost over 60% a day on defaults
  • Running coach and antioxidant tools half-baked
  • NotebookcheckOct 2025

A premium steel watch with a rotating bezel and the same insides as the Watch8; heart rate stayed within about 2.4% of a Polar H10 on average (7 bpm worst case) and battery ran about 33 h with everything on.

  • Expert ReviewsSep 2025

Among the best Wear OS watches for the bezel alone, but on a 30 km run heart rate swung up to 25 bpm too low, spiked early and sometimes dropped out - worse than the regular Watch8 in the same tests.

  • Business TodayAug 2025

Indian review: lovely to use, with steps close to an Apple Watch Ultra 2 and sleep close to an Oura ring, and about 40 h without always-on; but at Rs 46,999 the plain Watch8 or the Ultra make more sense for most.

Reported by many owners

Common complaints

  • Several waves of sudden battery drain in 2026 (April, June, July) hit Galaxy Watch6, 7 and 8 owners after software and Google Play Services updates; reported in tech news, no confirmed Samsung fix at the time
