For the starting version. Each part is measured the same way for every laptop (processor and graphics from benchmark results) and moves up or down with what reviewers praise or criticise.

Pros

  • Superb 3K OLED with bright HDR and smooth 90 Hz
  • Sturdy metal body and pleasant keyboard
  • Very fast Wi-Fi 7 and a quick SSD
  • Feels quick in everyday work and holds up on battery
  • Nearly 16 hours in their video loop
  • Bright, vivid OLED
  • Memory and storage upgrades at checkout are cheap

Cons

  • Arm app and accessory compatibility gaps; emulated apps run unevenly
  • Only USB-C ports, no headphone jack
  • PWM flicker at lower brightness and a reflective glossy panel
  • Creaky hinges, noisy touchpad click, fingerprint-prone blue finish
  • Memory soldered; high standby drain; pricey
  • No headphone jack, USB-A, HDMI or card reader
  • Some apps (e.g. Google Drive sync at the time) did not work on Arm
  • NotebookcheckAug 2024

Tested X1E-78-100 / 32GB / 1TB: a lovely OLED multimedia ultrabook with fast Wi-Fi and snappy daily use, best for buyers whose apps are known to run well on Arm.

  • PCWorldJul 2024

Tested X1E-78-100 / 16GB / 512GB: a beautiful, long-lasting Arm laptop whose weak spots are software compatibility and half-baked AI extras at launch.

  • T3Sep 2024

Tested version not stated (Snapdragon X Elite): T3 Platinum Award; the best all-rounder of the first Snapdragon X wave, sensibly priced, with a great keyboard and very long light-use battery life.

  • Croma Unboxed

Indian retailer review, X1E version with 32GB / 1TB: a premium, quiet, light laptop for web and office work; power users relying on older apps should look elsewhere.

  • TechaerisAug 2024

Tested X1E-78-100 / 16GB / 512GB: the reviewer's favourite Snapdragon X Elite laptop, with a brilliant screen, top keyboard and huge battery life; only the plain touchpad holds it back.
