Each part is rated on one scale for every smartwatch and band, from reviewers' accuracy tests and measured battery life where they exist, what reviewers found, specs and owner reports. It rates the product itself, not how good it is for the price.

Pros

  • Steady-state heart rate close to a chest strap
  • GPS distance near-identical to an Apple Watch
  • Reliable sleep tracking with useful score
  • Bright AMOLED screen
  • About six days with several GPS workouts left a third of the battery
  • Light and comfortable
  • Very good sleep and wake detection

Cons

  • Misses quick heart-rate spikes in intervals
  • No altimeter for floors
  • Music only in the dearer edition
  • Few smartwatch features
  • Vibration alerts only
  • No calling
  • No altimeter
  • Solid mid-range pick: heart rate closely matched a Polar H10 chest strap in steady efforts but was slow at workout starts and missed sharp sprint spikes; GPS distances matched an Apple Watch Series 7; sleep length agreed with a Fitbit Versa 3.

  • Indian review of the Music Edition: capable fitness watch with trustworthy GPS and very good sleep tracking and 7-8 days battery even with music, but no voice calls or altimeter and a clumsy music menu; no side-by-side accuracy test.

  • Heart rate was practically the same as a Fenix 7 on the other wrist and a 5 km run finished within about 50 m of an Apple Watch Series 8; GPS lock is slow. A sound deal for runners who want a less geeky Garmin.
