What reviewers say
Good
- Premium build
- Strong performance
- Excellent speakers for its size
- Good battery life
- Bright OLED (about 3,000 nits)
- Fastest phone chip
- Variable aperture and pro camera controls
Not so good
- Low 60Hz PWM flicker
- Charging slower than top rivals
- Few Bluetooth codecs
- Main camera lacks fine detail; small tele/ultrawide sensors weak in low light
- New cooling less effective than last year's in their tests
- No official update promise
- $100 more than before
-
Notebookcheck90/100Oct 2026
Very fast flagship in a compact body, held back by low-frequency PWM dimming that can strain eyes.
-
Tom's Guide90/100Sep 2026
Editor's Choice; one of the best phones around, though the Max lasts longer (score via Notebookcheck list).
-
Editor's Choice refinement of the 17 Pro; worth it from a 15 Pro or older, less so from a 17 Pro.
-
A solid upgrade from older iPhones; 17 Pro owners miss little.
-
Times of India90/100Sep 2026
Focused upgrades, with the variable aperture a genuinely new tool (page blocked; score and gist from Notebookcheck's list).
-
PhoneArena81/100Sep 2026
Battery life and photo styles stand out (PhoneArena page blocked; URL is Notebookcheck's list where the score was seen).
What owners say
Owners like
- Several roundups note most owners report no problems; the complaints are mainly early software bugs
Common complaints
- Phone froze and restarted after a failed Face ID scan for many early owners on iOS 27; Apple fixed it with iOS 27.0.1
- Some owners hear crackling or popping from the speakers or earpiece; no fix confirmed yet
- Touch screen sometimes stops responding for a moment (a few reports, cause unclear)
- Early iOS 27 bugs: Control Centre freezes, widget/home screen crashes, battery drain and warmth, mostly fixed in iOS 27.0.1
- A few reports of green/pink lines on the screen (some of the viral ones were said to be fake)
- Paint chipping on the aluminium frame reported in China
- Third-party magnetic MagSafe accessories can disturb the variable-aperture blades (one report)
- In the US some AT&T users lost signal (SOS mode); not an India issue
