For the starting version. Each part is measured the same way for every laptop (processor and graphics from benchmark results) and moves up or down with what reviewers praise or criticise.

Pros

  • No fan, so completely silent and stays cool
  • Body feels sturdier than usual at this price
  • Comfortable keyboard and responsive touchpad
  • Long battery life, very low power use
  • Calm textured design that hides fingerprints
  • Light for a 14-inch laptop (about 1.36 kg)
  • Comfortable keyboard

Cons

  • Very slow, struggles with multitasking
  • Dim TN screen with washed-out colours at angles
  • Poor 720p webcam
  • Every port is on the left
  • Washed-out screen with colour shift and glare
  • Plasticky touchpad with a cheap-sounding click
  • Slows with 10+ tabs; video calls with effects stutter
  • NotebookcheckSep 2025

Well made, silent and frugal, but the slow Celeron and dim TN screen make it suitable only for quiet typing in places like libraries; MediaTek Chromebooks are faster (tested: CX1405CKA, Celeron N4500, 4 GB, 128 GB).

  • HelenTechApr 2025

A decent cheap Chromebook for beginners or as a second device if bought on sale, held back mainly by its screen (tested: Japan CX1405CKA-NK0087/A, Celeron N4500, 8 GB, 64 GB - India sells only 4 GB versions).
