For the starting version. Each part is measured the same way for every laptop (processor and graphics from benchmark results) and moves up or down with what reviewers praise or criticise.

Pros

  • Around 12 hours in its battery test
  • Generous ports including a fast USB-C
  • Matte screen keeps reflections down
  • Fingerprint login works well
  • Feels well put together
  • Good selection of ports
  • Enough speed for daily work

Cons

  • Dim screen with weak colours
  • Fans get noisy under load
  • Plain, old-fashioned look
  • Low screen brightness
  • Colours are off, not for photo work
  • Average speakers
  • Unexciting design
  • Tech AdvisorAug 2023

Tested A515-58M with Core i7-1355U, 16 GB, 1 TB (US model): a dependable everyday laptop with long battery life that does nothing special.

  • DigitOct 2023

Tested Indian i5-1335U with 8 GB LPDDR5: solid build and port selection with decent speed, but the screen is dim and inaccurate.

  • Gadgetbyte NepalMay 2023

Tested i5-1335U version: good speed and battery for the price, with corners cut on design, build and screen.

  • LaptopMediaOct 2023

Tested A515-58M with the optional 1440p panel: quick and cheap, with a surprisingly good screen on that version; avoid the TN-panel versions sold in some markets.
