For the starting version. Each part is measured the same way for every laptop (processor and graphics from benchmark results) and moves up or down with what reviewers praise or criticise.

Pros

  • Strong gaming and overall performance
  • Easy-to-use MSI Center modes for speed and noise
  • Room to add RAM and a second SSD
  • MUX switch for better frame rates
  • Fast CPU and GPU pairing for gaming
  • Cooling keeps the GPU in check
  • Battery did better than its small size suggests

Cons

  • Dim screen with weak colours and slow response
  • Plastic body creaks and picks up fingerprints
  • Small battery, short runtimes
  • Average speakers and webcam
  • No USB4 or card reader
  • Looks and feels dated, all plastic
  • Screen colours could be better
  • NotebookcheckJan 2025

Tested B8VG-459 (Ryzen 9 8945HS, RTX 4070 105 W, 16/1TB): quick in games and well tuned by MSI's software, but the dim, washed-out screen is a big letdown at this price.

  • Profesional ReviewJul 2024

Tested Ryzen 9 8945HS, RTX 4070 105 W, 32 GB: a capable, well-cooled gaming machine with decent battery for its size, held back by a dated plastic design and a price that felt high in Spain.

  • El Chapuzas InformaticoMay 2024

Tested Ryzen 9 8945HS with RTX 4070 (Spain): strong hardware and a comfortable keyboard, but expensive and short on battery (summary from Notebookcheck's review index; page not opened).

  • Noticias3DJun 2024

Spanish review (title says B8BG, likely the RTX 4070 version): puts performance first at a moderate price, with a weak screen and heat and noise under load (summary from Notebookcheck's review index; page blocked).

  • Jagat ReviewMar 2025

Indonesian review of the B8V: strong enough for gaming, video editing and 3D work at a fair price, with a plain design (summary from Notebookcheck's review index; page not opened).
