For the starting version. Each part is measured the same way for every laptop (processor and graphics from benchmark results) and moves up or down with what reviewers praise or criticise.

Pros

  • Strong gaming and CPU speed for the money
  • Comfortable keyboard
  • Fans stay fairly quiet under load
  • Decent speakers for a budget gamer
  • Smooth 1080p gaming
  • Sensible first gaming laptop for the price
  • Large speed gain from the RTX 40-series GPUs

Cons

  • Screen is dim (about 270 nits), covers only ~61% sRGB and shows backlight bleed
  • About 4 hours of video playback, under an hour when gaming on battery
  • Only good value at a cut price
  • Short battery life
  • Mediocre touchpad
  • Plastic base flexes and the lid wobbles
  • No Thunderbolt; one USB-A port is only USB 2.0
  • Expert ReviewsDec 2023

Tested i7-13620H / RTX 4050 / 16 GB / 1 TB: a fast, tidy gaming laptop whose dim, washed-out screen and short battery life make it worth buying only at a discounted price.

  • TechRadarAug 2023

RTX 4050 version (read via Notebookcheck's summary): handles 1080p games well and suits a first gaming laptop; battery and touchpad are the weak spots.

  • LaptopMediaMar 2023

B13V with RTX 40-series at 105 W (tested GPU not stated): a big jump in graphics speed over the previous Katana, held back by a cheap-feeling body and a high launch price.

  • Laptop MagMar 2023

B13VGK RTX 4070 version (read via Notebookcheck's summary): good gaming speed, but the screen is surprisingly dim and lacks punch.

  • PCMagApr 2023

B13VGK RTX 4070 version: rated 4 out of 5 (score seen via Notebookcheck's list; review text not opened).

  • Digit WeekJun 2023

B13VGK RTX 4070 version (read via Notebookcheck's summary): good value for its GPU, but the screen chooses speed over picture quality.
