For the starting version. Each part is measured the same way for every laptop (processor and graphics from benchmark results) and moves up or down with what reviewers praise or criticise.

Pros

  • Barely over 1.2 kg yet feels solid in metal
  • OLED is accurate, punchy in HDR and quick to respond
  • Wi-Fi was fast and steady in testing
  • Small, light and nicely finished
  • Good keyboard, large glass touchpad with NumberPad, Thunderbolt ports
  • Quieter and quicker than the previous Zenbook 14
  • Big 75 Wh battery goes far on light work and video

Cons

  • CPU cannot hold its peak speed for long jobs, and fans get loud trying
  • Glossy screen picks up lots of reflections, and it flickers (PWM) at lower brightness
  • Ports crowded on one side, awkward charging-port spot, cramped arrow keys and narrow Enter key
  • Touch version of the OLED looks a little hazy and is only around 370 nits, so not great outdoors
  • Blue finish holds fingerprints
  • Gets hot on top and underneath under heavy load
  • Only modest speed gains over the older model; integrated graphics limit games
  • NotebookcheckFeb 2024

Tested UX3405MA with Core Ultra 7 155H, 32 GB, 1 TB, non-touch 3K 120 Hz OLED: a very light metal 14-inch with a superb, accurate OLED, let down by speed that falls away under long loads.

  • Ultrabook ReviewFeb 2024

Tested UX3405MA with Core Ultra 7 155H, 32 GB, 1 TB, 2.8K 120 Hz touch OLED (US$1,299): no serious weak spot, efficient and fairly priced for a premium compact laptop.

  • Business TodayJan 2024

Tested the Core Ultra 7 155H touch-OLED model in India: a stylish, portable laptop whose screen is the main reason to buy, with only small gains in speed over the last model.

  • ExhibitMar 2024

Tested UX3405MA with Core Ultra 7 155H, 32 GB, 1 TB, 3K 120 Hz touch OLED: excellent screen, quick for everyday multitasking and light editing, held back mostly by price and a small set of ports.
