For the starting version. Each part is measured the same way for every laptop (processor and graphics from benchmark results) and moves up or down with what reviewers praise or criticise.

Pros

  • Big 16:10 screen at a low price
  • Fairly light for a 16-inch laptop
  • Webcam has a physical cover
  • Backlit keyboard with number pad
  • Close to seven hours in an office-work battery test
  • Roomy 16:10 screen
  • Comfortable backlit keyboard and large touchpad

Cons

  • Dull, low-colour display
  • Plastic finish feels cheap and flaked on the test unit
  • Only about 4.5 hours in a real work day
  • USB-C port does not charge, no card reader
  • Hollow, harsh speakers
  • Only a 60 Hz screen, not good outdoors
  • Too weak for anything but very light games
  • Tech AdvisorSep 2023

Tested X1605EA/ZA with Core i7-1255U, 16 GB (US/UK model): does the basics, but a dull screen, cheap-feeling plastic and short real-world battery make rivals better buys.

  • Trusted ReviewsNov 2023

Tested X1605Z with Core i7, 16 GB, 512 GB (UK model): a sturdy, comfortable office laptop with decent battery, but basic for its UK price.

  • LaptopMedia

Tested X1605 with a 12th Gen Intel chip (exact CPU not stated): an affordable big-screen laptop whose few flaws most buyers can live with.
